The Bhagavad Gita - a very important scripture in the religion Hinduism - is a dialogue between Arjuna and Lord Krishna at the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Here below is a chapterwise description:
Chapter 1: Arjuna Vishada Yoga (The Distress of Arjuna)
Theme: Arjuna's moral dilemma and hopelessness by seeing his relatives and teachers on both sides of the battlefield.
Chapter 2: Sankhya Yoga (The Yoga of Knowledge)
Theme: Immortality of soul and karma or duty. Krishna explains the tenets of Sankhya and be an essential knowledge in fulfilling duty.
Chapter 3: Karma Yoga (The Yoga of Action)
Theme: He emphasized selfless action (Karma Yoga) as an approach towards liberation.
Chapter 4: Jnana Yoga (The Knowledge's or The Yoga of Knowledge)
Theme: The Incarnations of Divinity, and with that, the Essence of Knowledge.
Chapter 5: Karma Sannyasa Yoga (The Yoga of Renunciation of Action)
Theme: Direct relationship between action and renunciation. Krishna explains that both paths are more or less towards one goal.
Chapter 6: Dhyana Physics (The Yoga of Meditation)
Theme: The Practice of meditation and control of the mind.
Chapter 7: Jnana Vijnana Yoga (The Yoga of Knowledge and Realization)
Theme: Krishna manifests His divine side and cosmic form.
Chapter 8: Akshara Brahma Yoga (The Yoga of the Imperishable Brahman)
Theme: The recalling of God at the moment of death and the nature of Brahman.
Chapter 9: Raja Vidya Raja Guhya Yoga (The Yoga of the King of Knowledge and the King of Secrets)
Theme: The highest knowledge and the course of devotion.
Chapter 10: Vibhuti Yoga (The Yoga of Divine Manifestations)
Theme: Krishna explains the nature of His divine manifestations into the world.
Chapter 11: Vishvarupa Darshana Yoga (The Yoga of the Vision of the Cosmic Form)
Theme: Krishna reveals His omnipresent form (Vishvarupa) to Arjuna.
Chapter 12: Bhakti Yoga (The Yoga of Devotion)
Theme: Easiest path to God: devotion (Bhakti Yoga).
Chapter 13: Kshetra Kshetrajna Vibhaga Yoga (The Yoga of Distinguishing the Field and the Knower of the Field)
Theme: Differences between body(Kshetra) and soul(Kshetrajna).
Chapter 14: Gunatraya Vibhaga Yoga (The Yoga of the Division of the Three Gunas)
Theme: The 3 Gunas (Sattva, Rajas, Tamas) and their respective effects on human behavior.
Chapter 15: Purushottama Yoga (The Yoga of the Supreme Person)
Theme: Nature of the Supreme Being (Purushottama).
Chapter 16: Daivasura Sampad Vibhaga Yoga (The Yoga of the Division Between the Divine and Demonic)
Theme: Qualities of those who have divine qualities and those who have demonic qualities.
Chapter 17: Shraddha Traya Vibhaga Yoga (The Yoga of the Division of the Three Kinds of Faith)
Theme:
The three kinds of faith and their influence over actions.
Chapter 18: Moksha Sannyasa Yoga (The Yoga of
Liberation Through Renunciation)
Theme: The last chapter of the Gita, which sums up its teachings and prescribes the way to liberation.
